Spring Turkey Hunting

As a professional bass fisherman, it’s hard to find time for anything other than fishing in the Spring. But one thing I have found a way to make time for is spring turkey hunting. The bluebonnets are popping out, the landscape is greening up, and the toms, just like the bucks during the rut, are out looking for hens. And really, anyone can learn to turkey hunt. You don’t have to be an expert. The more calls you know, the better chance you have, but sometimes, just knowing a few simple yelps can get a tom within range. The way to learn how to call turkey is to just listen to hens and get out there and try it. Just like in fishing, it’s trial and error. You’re going to mess up some, but as long as you are out there you have a chance. I hope you get a chance to get out there and do a little turkey hunting this spring!
