Turkey Season

As a professional bass fisherman, it’s hard to find time for anything other than fishing in the Spring. But one thing I have found a way to make time for is spring turkey season. There is really nothing quite like it. Everything is greening up; there are flowers everywhere, and the toms, just like the bucks during the rut, are starting to roam and look for hens. To call in a turkey, you really don’t have to be an expert. The more calls you know, the better chance you have, but sometimes, just knowing a few simple yelps can get a turkey within range. The way to learn how to call turkey is to just listen to hens and get out there and hunt. Just like in fishing, it’s trial and error. You’re going to mess up some, but as long as you are out there you have a chance. I hope you get a chance to get out there and do a little turkey hunting this spring!
