The Spawn is Coming

Water temperatures all around Texas are currently in the mid to upper 50s, and the weather has been unseasonably warm. What does that mean? To the bass fisherman, it means the fish are about to be on the beds. The magic water temperature for the spawn has always been 60 degrees, and bass tend to spawn on the new moon or the full moon. But with the water temperature being so warm for February, I can promise you, it’s about to happen. The one thing you have to watch out for are really cold nights, but still, oftentimes, the biggest fish spawn early in the year. You never know when you are going to come around the corner to find an 8-10 pounder sitting on a bed. I love this time of year. Want to know how to catch ‘em during the spawn? Stay tuned….
