Getting Your Boat Ready for Winter

Depending on where you live in the country, winter is a time we typically don’t fish as often. I like to do a few things to my boat to make sure it is ready for this down time. First, I drain both my live well and main drain plug to make sure there is no water standing in the boat. I also like to keep an extension cord hooked up to my batteries to make sure the batteries are topped off. I like to take all my tackle out of my boat to make sure no moisture collects. If your boat is to be kept out of doors, I would definitely recommend keeping the cover on. I also drain the water from the lower unit housing to make sure there is no unnecessary damage caused by freezing. That’s about it. Happy winter!
