Hunting the rut

In Texas, often times as deer hunters, we get into a pattern of hunting for a few hours in the morning and then going back out in the evening, the times when deer are moving and feeding. But if there is one time of year when you really need to spend as much time in the stand as you can, it’s during the rut. Those mature bucks, if they don’t have a doe, are out walking and looking for one. There is almost no other time that the deer of a lifetime can just appear out of thin air at any time of day. It just takes patience and persistence. My feeling is that if you spend enough time in the stand, you will be rewarded. I hope it is a good year for all you hunters!
