Classic Bait

Bass bait styles and techniques have morphed and evolved over the years, and lately it seems like the change is happening more quickly than ever. But there are some bass fishing baits that have been around for a really long time, and have fundamentally stayed the same. One of those is the buzz bait. I think I’ve been throwing a buzz bait now for about 35 years. The great thing about a buzz bait is that it is an efficient bait that covers a lot of water – a fish catching machine. I had the opportunity to fish yesterday on Sam Rayburn Reservoir to try out the new Strike King buzz bait. It’s called the Swinging Sugar Buzz. It’s a short, compact buzz bait with a blade that hits the head to make a unique clacking sound. It really sounds good. Our hook up ratio was excellent, and we even caught one over six pounds. The buzz bait may have been around for over 35 years, but it can still catches ‘em.
